Berlin, February 2020 – The Solar Panel Art Series auction their Transformation Edition collection of solar artworks in collaboration with renowned artists 1Up Crew, Katrin Fridriks, Maison Hefner, Maya Hayuk, Pixel Pancho, RAWS and Zaria Forman.

An artwork is never just the object; it is also the experience and its contextual impact, how it is used and enjoyed, and how it raises questions and changes ways of thinking and living. The Solar Panel Art Series does exactly that, and it is a great example of how to open up the discussion about renewable energy and the unequal distribution of energy today. In addition, they not only make us think, but also act.” Olafur Eliasson

The Solar Panel Art Series Auction: Transformation Edition will feature 8 commissioned artworks that employ used solar panels as an artistic medium. The works, auctioned on Paddle8, support Olafur Eliasson’s Little Sun Foundation “Solar Kids School Program” to provide clear, safe and sustainable light to school children and their teachers, living off the energy grid, in Rwanda. These children rely entirely on dangerous and polluting kerosene as their primary light source. The art series is inspired by art creating positive impact and promoting global social awareness. The project highlights the potential where art, technology and nature can co-exist.

SPAS was founded on the belief that art is a powerful tool in changing social culture. Driven by genuine intentions, artists are transparent in the messages expressed in their works. This positions art as a strong medium to spark dialogue, raise awareness and allow us to re-think, recalibrate and collaborate towards critical climate action.” Abou Aboughazala, Director of The Solar Panel Art Series (SPAS)

After successful sell out auctions in 2019, Transformation Edition, the 1st curated edition of the year, is live to global bidders 20th February 2020, 6pm CET, and taking place online through auction platform Paddle8.
